Your information, explained. Beexie uses information to connect people, deliver content, support business and payments, and keep the community safe. Your audience settings, device permissions and privacy choices matter.
01
Who is responsible for your data
Beexie Interactive Communications owns and operates Beexie and is responsible as data controller for the personal information described here. This policy covers Beexie's website, apps and related services, including social connections, business profiles, videos, sounds, lives, BeeMe avatars, messaging, gifting and paid features.
Contact our data protection team at [email protected]. Businesses you interact with and external services may separately control information they collect; their privacy notices also apply.
02
Information we process
- Account and profile information: your email or phone number, sign-in credentials and verification records, birthday, name, username, profile photo, bio, account type, settings and the business or contact details you choose to add. Passwords are stored as hashes.
- Content and creation: the videos, photos, audio, original sounds, captions, comments, stories, live content, channel updates and other material you submit, with associated metadata such as upload time, tags and locations you attach. BeeMe processes your selected avatar features and saved designs.
- Connections and activity: follows, friend requests, Circle and group memberships, interactions, searches, views, watch activity, likes, saves, reports and relevant advertising interactions. These help provide feeds, recommendations and account tools.
- Transactions and business activity: gifts, tips, purchases, bookings, subscriptions, balances, payment references, amounts, currency, fees, statuses and payout details. For eligible identity checks we process the requested identity details, verification results and, where submitted, a document or selfie. Payment and verification providers process information required for their services.
- Devices and service use: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and app information, device identifiers or push tokens, sessions, sign-in history, diagnostics and security events.
- Information you send to us: support enquiries, report evidence, appeals, data-rights requests and correspondence. If you contact us about work, this includes the CV, portfolio and professional details you choose to provide.
We may receive relevant information from other users, such as tags, reports or transactions involving you, and from payment, authentication or verification providers when you use their services. You do not have to provide optional profile details.
03
Device permissions and contact discovery
Camera, microphone, photo-library, notification and precise-location permissions support the features you choose to use. For example, location can support Nearby and place tags, while camera and microphone access allow recording or live participation. You can revoke permissions in your device or browser settings; the related feature may then be unavailable.
When you use contact discovery, supported clients convert phone numbers or email addresses into hashes on your device before requesting matches. The matching service uses these hashes rather than uploading contact names or a readable address book, and does not retain the submitted list. Hashed identifiers are still treated as personal information. You can control whether others can find you through your contact details in privacy settings.
04
Messages and encryption
In end-to-end encrypted direct chats, message text and supported attachments are encrypted on participants' devices. Beexie stores or relays encrypted content and the delivery information needed to operate the service, such as participants, timestamps and device or key information. Encrypted backups require your recovery key to unlock.
If you report a message, your device can submit the selected message content and supporting evidence for review. Content you voluntarily send to support is also available to the team handling your request. A recipient can copy, screenshot or forward a conversation.
Do not assume that public posts, channel updates, group features, live broadcasts or every call have the same encryption or audience as an encrypted direct chat. Use the privacy and security information shown for the feature. Encryption does not hide all account and delivery metadata.
05
How and why we use information
- Provide the service: create and secure accounts, deliver content and messages, operate connections and Circles, process transactions, and respond to requests.
- Personalise discovery: rank and recommend content, sounds, lives, accounts and businesses using relevant activity and settings.
- Protect people and the platform: investigate fraud, abuse and intellectual property reports, apply age restrictions, verify eligibility, moderate content and keep records needed for safety and disputes.
- Maintain and improve Beexie: diagnose errors, measure performance and understand feature usage, with separate choices for optional usage analytics.
- Communicate: send service, security and transaction notices and respond to support, rights or hiring enquiries. Optional marketing is subject to applicable choices.
We use the legal basis appropriate to the purpose: performing our agreement with you; complying with legal obligations; consent for optional activities where required; and legitimate interests, such as service security and improvement, after considering your rights. Protection of vital interests may apply in an emergency. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Accepting the terms or acknowledging this policy is not a blanket consent to optional tracking or every future use of your data. Where consent is required, it must be specific to that activity.
06
Who can see or receive information
- Your selected audience: other people can see the information you publish or share with them. Public profiles and content may be accessible beyond Beexie. Private, followers, friends and Circle settings affect visibility; a friendship or Circle membership is not a payment.
- People and businesses you interact with: recipients, sellers, creators or service providers receive the details needed for the interaction, booking, gift or transaction. Sharing information with them creates a copy outside your own account.
- Service providers: hosting, storage, media delivery, communications, analytics where enabled, payment processing and identity verification providers receive information necessary to provide their services, subject to applicable safeguards.
- Safety and legal recipients: authorised reviewers, advisers, regulators or authorities where reasonably necessary for a lawful request, legal duty, safety issue or dispute. Formal IP reports and appeals may be shared with the other party as explained in our IP policy.
- Business changes: information may be transferred as part of a lawful merger, acquisition or reorganisation, subject to applicable protections and notice where required.
We do not sell your personal data. Advertising and creator tools may provide performance information about content or campaigns; they do not entitle an advertiser to read your encrypted chats. External links and payment services have their own privacy practices.
08
Recommendations and automated tools
Feeds such as Hyperfeed use signals including your interactions, viewing activity, relationships and content information to order recommendations. Moderation and fraud tools can also use automated signals to identify material or activity for restriction or review.
Use the available feed, privacy and sensitive-content controls to shape your experience. You can challenge a moderation decision through its appeal option or support. Where applicable law gives you rights concerning a decision made solely by automated processing with a legal or similarly significant effect, you may request human review, explain your position and contest the decision.
09
Retention, deletion and security
We retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described here. The period depends on the data and feature: account information supports your active account; content follows its lifecycle and deletion controls; transaction, consent, dispute and safety records may need longer retention for legal obligations and legitimate claims.
Requesting account deletion hides your profiles and starts a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion is processed. Deletion does not necessarily erase every record immediately. Some information may remain in restricted backups, legally required records or unresolved investigations; copies held by recipients or external services are outside our direct control. We limit retained information to the relevant purpose. See account deletion or contact us for information about a particular record.
We use measures such as access controls, encryption and restricted access to sensitive uploads to protect information. No system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your sign-in details and recovery key, review active sessions, and report suspicious access promptly.
10
International processing
Our service providers and infrastructure may process information outside your country, including outside Nigeria. Applicable transfer requirements still apply. Transfers must rely on a lawful basis and appropriate protections, such as recognised adequacy arrangements or enforceable contractual safeguards where required. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data.
11
Children and teenagers
Beexie is not for children under 13, or below a higher local minimum age. Under-18 users need a parent or legal guardian's permission, and parental consent is required where the law requires it. Please report a suspected underage account to support.
For accounts identified as belonging to 13–17-year-olds, safeguards include private profiles, restricted adult messaging, limits on contact discovery and Nearby visibility, stronger sensitive-content settings and no ads. Going live requires age 16. Catalogue gifts and gift funding can be available from age 13, while cash tips, transfers, payments and withdrawals remain 18+. These are separate eligibility rules; gifting access does not remove teen protections.
We use the birthday and other relevant information provided to apply age-related safeguards. Contact us to correct an incorrect age or raise a concern. We may restrict access while an age or safety concern is reviewed.
12
Your rights and choices
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent or an objection to processing. You can object to direct marketing. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions and identity verification.
- Review audience, contact-discovery, messaging and analytics choices in Settings → Privacy.
- Request an account data export in Settings → Your data. Encrypted conversations may need a separate export from your device.
- Use our data protection request form or email [email protected]. Tell us what you need and how to identify the account; do not send passwords or recovery keys.
- Follow the deletion instructions if you want to close your account.
We handle requests within applicable legal time limits and explain any lawful restriction or extension. You may complain directly to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or another competent data protection authority. You do not have to contact us first to exercise that right.
13
Careers and hiring enquiries
If you send a hiring enquiry, we use your contact details, CV, portfolio and correspondence to assess and respond to it. Access is limited to those involved in handling the enquiry and necessary service providers. Do not include unnecessary identity documents, financial credentials or sensitive personal details. You can ask about retention or request deletion through support; we will seek permission before retaining your details for unrelated future opportunities where required.
14
Changes to this policy
The date above identifies this version. We will provide notice of material changes through an appropriate channel, such as the app, website or email, and request consent where required. Keep a copy for your records. Questions about this policy or a specific use of your data can be sent to [email protected].
